Little Baby at Wat Opot - 20 days old and orphaned

On April 13th , 2010 this baby girl was dropped off at Wat Opot Children’s Community outside Phnom Penh, Cambodia.    She had just turned 20 days old, her mother died of AIDs the day prior.  Most likely she has HIV virus, and it is unsure whether she will survive.

In the daily lives of the people that will read this newsletter, chances are the AIDs or HIV is something we only read about.  It is unlikely that we meet or could know people who have died of AIDs, whose parents have died of AIDS, or have been born with HIV.

And yet, for those of us who call Asia our home, just a short flight from Hong Kong there are babies, mothers, children who continue to fight for their lives – and  a future due to the bad luck of being born with the HIV virus.

This little girl has a small chance because she was taken to the right place.  Over 75 children are LIVING today due to the help of Wayne and his team at Wat Opot.

The Sakka Foundation supports Wat Opot by connecting donors who really want to know they are making a difference, with a way to make a difference.

Please consider to donate to Wat Opot’s efforts to give children living with HIV, or orphaned due to HIV a chance in life.

100% of your donation will go directly to these children.

If you are an American citizen, you can receive a non-profit charitable receipt by donating directly to Wat Opot through their USA 501c3 organization’s website:  http://www.wocf.us

How to make a difference?
-    Just USD 3 per day per child will give each child EVERYTHING they need to survive, be educated and receive medical care.

Contact the Sakka Foundation, at sakkafoundation@yahoo.com to donate.   Sakka Foundation is a 100% volunteer organization.  100% of your donation will go to the children we support.

Sakka Foundation specializes in working with donors who are interested in knowing how and where their money is spent, want complete transparency, and would like to have a personal connection to the children they support.

Sakka Foundation is pleased to announce our new Sponsor a House program!  Sakka is looking for donors who are interested in knowing they are making a difference in children's lives.  We will be fully supporting a house of 10 - 12 children, living together outside of Phnom Penh, Cambodia.  There are 4 houses of children, total 50 kids living at Who Will Children's Community.  The community is made of children whose parents/families are unable to care for them due to serious economic hardship, domestic violence or drug abuse.  They live together in this community where they can receive an education, medical care, nutritional care and caretaking.  Each "house" has 2 caretakers who live with the kids full time.   There are GREAT ways to get involved in the program.   Please see attached file and read more about this in future blogs!

Sakka's team members are off to Cambodia this coming weekend, April 30th, to bring school supplies and books to the kids at Who Will Children's Community.  The school we are building is almost complete, so time to stock it with much needed supplies. The last time we visited these kids had nothing...no books, pens, pencils, crayons or supplies at all.  We are looking forwar
